Hilton Is Building a Luxury Resort Next to Manuel Antonio National Park

Maravé Manuel Antonio, LXR Hotels & Resorts — what it is, what it means, and what travelers should know before 2029.

August 30, 2026 · 4 min read

Costa Rica just got a significant vote of confidence from one of the world's largest hotel companies.

Hilton announced the signing of Maravé Manuel Antonio, LXR Hotels & Resorts — the brand's first LXR-branded property in Costa Rica. The resort is scheduled to open in 2029 on a nearly 40-acre beachfront estate minutes from Manuel Antonio National Park, the most visited national park in the country.

What's being built

The property sits on 16 hectares of titled beachfront land that descends from a rainforest ridge down to 198 meters of Pacific shoreline. Seven stories. Ocean views from virtually every angle.

The resort component includes 57 accommodations — 42 ocean-view guest rooms and 15 hillside bungalows, each with its own private plunge pool.

The residential component adds 116 private residences — 66 villas, 46 oceanfront condominiums, and 4 penthouses. Residence owners receive automatic Hilton Honors Diamond status and access to Hilton's full global luxury portfolio.

Total: 173 accommodations between the hotel and residences combined.

The timeline

Residence sales launch Fall 2026. Construction completes late 2028. Grand opening 2029.

What this means for Manuel Antonio

Manuel Antonio already draws more visitors than any other national park in Costa Rica. Adding an ultra-luxury LXR resort to that footprint accelerates what was already happening — the area is becoming a genuine destination for high-net-worth travelers, not just backpackers and budget tours.

That's good and complicated at the same time. More luxury infrastructure means more options for travelers willing to spend. It also means more pressure on a national park that already manages visitor numbers carefully.

What it means for travelers planning a trip now

If you're planning a Manuel Antonio trip before 2029 — nothing changes. The park is still there. The wildlife is still there. The lodges and boutique properties that know the area well are still the best options for most travelers.

If you're looking at 2029 and beyond — Maravé will be one of the most high-end options on Costa Rica's Pacific coast. Residence sales start this fall for anyone considering the investment side.

Our take

Costa Rica continues to attract serious international investment in its tourism infrastructure. That's a signal that the country's appeal — the biodiversity, the stability, the Pacific coastline, the national park system — isn't going anywhere.

Manuel Antonio has always delivered. A Hilton LXR property next door confirms what people who've been paying attention already knew.
